Oh, No He Didn't: How Not to Respond to Your Girlfriend Being a Sore Loser

Rule of thumb: never tell your significant other you're smarter than them, even if you follow with "in this specific subject". 

While it's okay to have different strengths and weaknesses, it's not okay to compare or belittle someone based on them. If you're in a conflict with your partner, it's best to approach it with empathy, understanding, and a willingness to find a solution that works for both of you.

In today's Am I the A$$hole, a guy turned to Reddit asking for opinions on his relationship with his girlfriend. He explained that his girlfriend kept challenging him to "friendly" games of a specific variety (mostly logic and math), but whenever she lost, she would throw a toddler tantrum that included slamming doors and throwing stuff on the floor. 

Frustrated with her behavior, he eventually told her that she needs to accept that he is smarter than her and to stop trying to challenge him to these games all the time.

The thread sparked a heated debate, with some users siding with the guy, while others criticized his behavior. While most users voted that both parties were in the wrong, mostly because the guy should have realized there was a deeper issue and tried to figure it out, many said his response to his girlfriend's sore losing was appropriate.

Personally, while OP could have handled the situation better, he was in the clear in our book. Until his update, that is…
